Grant Deadlines

The grant interface is available 24/7, therefore all application and report deadlines are 11:59 pm (just before midnight) on the date specified. Applications may be submitted up to 30 days prior to the deadline but will not be accepted the day after the deadline, regardless of whether a deadline falls on a weekend.

Upcoming Application Deadlines

  • The next submission deadline for Project Support Grants for Individual Artists and Culture Bearers is July 28, 2026. Grantees whose last award was prior to July 2025 are eligible to apply in this grant round.
  • The next submission deadline for Programming and Project Support Grants for Organizations is September 30, 2026

Grant Contractual Agreement

After a grant is awarded, grantees will receive a contractual agreement outlining the terms of the grant. The agreement must be signed and returned within 30 days of receipt.

Grant funds will not be disbursed until SEMAC has received the signed agreement. If it is not returned by the deadline, the grant funds will be forfeited and may be awarded to the next highest scoring applicant from the same grant round.

Once the agreement is signed, Final Reports and other follow-up requirements will be assigned through the grant interface.

Final Reports

Final Reports for all grantees are due 30 days after the project End Date stated in the grant contract. This deadline also applies to Interim Reports at the end of the first year of two-year General Operating Support Grants. Reports are assigned through the grant interface once the grantee has signed their contractual agreement and may be found in the Follow-Up Forms section on the Applicant Dashboard. Grantees are encouraged to review the Final Report prior to beginning their grant-funded project to be aware of the information they must track. For example, as part of the Final Report, among other details, grantees are required to report on attendance, on actual spending of grant dollars, and on outcomes. They also must include a copy of a letter of appreciation they sent to their senators and representatives in the Minnesota State Legislature as required in the contract. Grantees also are strongly encouraged to invite their legislators to attend their events.

Grantees remain ineligible to apply for any grant until all overdue reports are submitted and approved. Failure to submit a Final Report by the end of the fiscal year (June 30) in which it is due will result in ineligibility for the following fiscal year. Continued failure to submit and receive approval by the end of the second fiscal year may result in initiation of SEMAC’s Misuse of Funds procedure.
