Since its inception in February 2010, the Arts & Cultural Heritage Grant program has awarded 84 grants to nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations located in the SEMAC region. The following activities were funded by the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council through the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

Fillmore County

  • Commonweal Theatre Company - $20,000 for Commonweal Presents
  • Dreamery Rural Arts Initiative – $6,000 for the Play! in the Barn series
  • Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center – $6,400 for the Stringwood masterclass
  • Lanesboro Arts Center – $12,000 for the iron casting/sculpture project
  • Northland Words – $10,000 toward theater classes for young people
  • Southeast MN Bluegrass Association – $3,055 for bluegrass jam camp

Goodhue County

  • Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies – $1,350 for children’s book celebration
  • Art Reach – $3,200 for at-risk middle school art classes
  • Picaresque II – $10,000 for The Story of Music, Stories from Home

Mower County

  • Northwestern Singers – $4,000 toward annual spring concert

Olmsted County

  • Children’s Dance Theatre – $10,000 for partnership with the MN Ballet
  • Choral Arts Ensemble – $10,000 toward Symphonic Chorus
  • City of Rochester Music Department – $50,000 for World Music Series Pilot
  • Honors Choirs of Southeast MN – $10,000 toward third annual summer musical
  • John Marshall High School – $10,000 for leaded glass installation project
  • Olmsted Medical Center – $10,000 for artwork display at OMC locations
  • Olmsted Medical Center – $10,000 outdoor sculpture for OMC main clinic
  • RCTC & RPL - $1,250 for performances by the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet
  • Rochester Arts Council – $10,000 toward artist stipends for public art benches
  • Rochester Arts Council – $10,000 in artist stipends for ARTikids
  • Rochester Civic Theatre – $10,000 for a play at the RACE exhibit
  • Rochester Dance Company – $10,000 for eclectic dance performance Rise
  • Rochester Music Guild – $7,800 toward scholarship competition and recitals
  • Southeastern MN Youth Orchestras – $13,632 for a community outreach partnership

  • ArtOrg – $10,000 for the Five Sculptures project
  • Boys of America Brass Band – $10,000 toward 20th season multimedia show
  • Lockwood Theater Company – $10,000 for the musical melodrama Jesse
  • Northfield Public Library – $5,000 toward annual Books & Stars program
  • Paradise Center for the Arts – $10,000 for Paradise Kids theater camp
  • Vintage Band Music Festival – $10,000 to provide free guest band concerts

Steele County

  • Owatonna Arts Center – $10,000 toward a marathon of clay pot throwing
  • Vega Productions – $5,500 for an after-school guitar program

Wabasha County

  • Jon Hassler Theater – $10,000 to provide seating for low-income patrons
  • Plainview Economic Development Authority – $3,000 for five summer musical concerts

  • Austin Symphony Orchestra – $7,500 for Connecting Community project
  • Northwestern Singers – $2,195 for the annual spring concert
  • Riverland Community College – $7,805 towards a corrections public mural project

Olmsted County

  • Ability Building Center – $10,000 for Empowering Through Art
  • C Productions – $9,897 toward The Syringa Tree one-woman show
  • City of Rochester Music Department – $35,500 for World Music Series Pilot, Year 2
  • Rochester Art Center – $10,000 for Adolescence Through the Lens
  • Rochester Arts Council – $10,000 toward ARTigras 2011

  • Main Street Mural Committee – $10,000 for Owatonna’s Main Street Mural Project
  • Vega Productions – $14,600 to expand the after-school guitar program

Wabasha County

  • Jon Hassler Theater – $10,000 to provide seating for low-income patrons

Winona County

  • Land Stewardship Project – $8,300 for the play Look Who’s Knockin’
  • Minnesota Marine Art Museum – $39,990 for a community engagement initiative
  • Winona Area Public Schools – $8,330 to expand artist residency programs
  • Winona Fine Arts Commission – $10,000 to provide Family Art Day Extravaganza
